The meals are great and the prices are realistic. On my recent visit I ordered the Barramundi fish and chips, and there was more than enough for me. I took half home, happy to have it as another meal. The kitchen packed it up as a proper full meal in a doggy bag, not just tossed into a container. Great effort from the staff. I’ll keep coming back. It’s a lovely old pub opposite the Railway Station in central Goulburn, with cosy semi-private spots and comfortable seating as well as the more open public bar.

We were new to the area and the people here made us feel welcome straight away. The staff were so kind and friendly, even with the Saturday night rush going on. We found a cosy corner with the old-fashioned atmosphere we were after. The food was great, and the portions were generous for the price. Thanks to everyone there for making it such a lovely experience! 🥰

I was passing through Goulburn and stopped in for a pub meal after leaving another popular local pub because I didn’t feel welcome there. I’m glad I spotted Southern Railway Hotel while driving through town. It was Tuesday, so I got the $20 steak night special. The food was delicious and worth the price, but the hospitality really made the visit. I chatted briefly with the bartender, cashier and waitress, and all three were so lovely. I’d happily recommend this place.

We had our family reunion in the private dining room, “The Stables,” and it was a fantastic setting. The food was delicious, and the two Friday staff gave excellent service. Special thanks to Trish, who went above and beyond to make sure the function ran smoothly.

The four of us tried the schnitzel specials at the refurbished restaurant on Thursday 25th September 2025, including the bosciola and the Mexican. At $18 for schnitzel night, they were very good value, tasty and generous portions. The service was attentive and great. We’re so happy with the new look, menu and meals, and we’ll be back.
