Willows Motel Goulburn

We had everything we needed for an overnight stop on our road trip. The place was extremely clean, which surprised me given some reviews saying otherwise. It was quiet at night, the bed was comfortable, and there was enough space to open both our large cases fully. We’ll definitely stay again on the way home.

We’d stayed here before and found it quite comfortable, but this time wasn’t good. The room smelled of dogs, the freezer was dirty and the fridge wasn’t much better. When we went to shower at 6am, there were no towels, just a hand towel and bath mat. I left a note with the keys explaining it and asking them to call me, but nobody got back to me. That’s not good customer service. We’ll give it a miss in future.

The bed was lovely and comfortable, and both the room and bathroom were spotless. No issues at all, and it was really good value for money. Check-in was easy too. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone passing through!

This was very disappointing for travelling with a disability. They said my registered assistance dog counted as a pet and that they didn’t accept pets. Then they wanted to move me from the room I’d booked to a “pet” room for another $40 per night. After the organisation my dog is affiliated with told them that was illegal, they offered the pet room at the original price. But it was an inferior room: I’d booked a twin room because my daughter was travelling with me, while the pet room only had a fold-out sofa, which they said they could make up if I needed it. I believe the hotel needs to familiarise itself with the Disability Act of 1992, which says I can’t be discriminated against for having an assistance animal. I cancelled the booking. It’s now before the human rights commission.
