The Griff Motel

The rooms are very nice, and the staff were really friendly. There are PowerPoints on only one side of the bed, though the lights are on both sides. The front of the place looks shut down, and we thought there may have been a bar or something there at some point. It feels very secure, with a swipe gate to get into the courtyard and reach your room. Right in the middle of town, great location!

A big thank you to Rochelle, who helped me when I couldn’t find the entry after a 10-hour drive. I arrived late in the afternoon, exhausted, then locked myself out of my room when I went to my car. She was patient and kind, and helped me get a spare pass. One of the best customer service experiences I’ve had in a long time. The room was immaculate and inviting, with cold AC. The King bed, pillows and sheets were super comfortable after that long drive, and the shower had great water pressure. There was good quality complimentary shampoo and conditioner, and it was quiet at night, so I slept peacefully. A gate lets you drive in and park inside in front of your room, so you don’t have to leave the car on the street. The WiFi was good, and you can turn on the TV to get the password. There was also a little fridge, kettle, microwave and iron. Very good value for money, highly recommend.

I’ve stayed here a bunch of times for work. The rooms are quite nice, and after-hours check-in is easy. I’ve never checked in or out in person. The location is the best thing, with heaps of meal options within a five-minute walk. It’s usually been in the mid-to-high $100s per night, which is what it’s worth. Tonight’s tariff was $235, booked directly by phone with reception. It’s good, but not that good. You can save $100 and walk one extra minute to your dinner of choice. I don’t think I’ll be back.

The king Deluxe room had plenty of space, and the motel was spotlessly clean. The bathroom smelled of bleach. It’s a lovely hidden gem in the centre of town, with nice people and a great security gate that closes behind you when you drive through. Kids could play there with supervision. The only issue was the two small louvered windows, which didn’t let in enough air. We had the aircon on the whole three days and I caught a cold. I’d still recommend it.
