After a long day on the road, it was frustrating to find that the room we'd booked wasn't available. I reserved a king room on the plains motor inn website last week, but we were charged the king rate and given a double and single instead. The man running the place apologized and said they had no kings left, though he didn't know why the website showed one as available. He suggested we could use the single bed for extra room. No one contacted us beforehand to explain the change, which really grated on me. He promptly refunded the cost, so I gave two stars, but we then had to find somewhere else to stay. Thankfully, that place was much nicer. Please let people know in advance if you can't honor their booking, so you don't waste their time.

The location was good and the room was clean, but the manager was aggressive, rude, and impatient with me. Maybe he was having a bad day, or maybe that's how he always is, but he hung up on me, so I had to contact booking.com to sort out the issues. They have all the details on file. I've booked through booking.com for ten years across Australia and overseas without a problem until this. I hope the manager takes the feedback on board and treats customers better in future.

The price felt fair for what we got, and the rooms were generously sized with comfortable beds. It's central to town and especially handy for the nearby Railway Hotel, which is brilliant for dinner. On the downside, the bathroom looks very 70s, and sound carries through the wall from the next room. The back door opens onto a yard where kitchen sinks are stored, while the view from the front door is Woollies.

There was plenty of room, so it didn't feel like the prison cell you get in so many motels. The bed was comfortable too, and the shower was hot with great pressure. 10 out of 10, highly recommend.

Just right for one night. The hosts were lovely, and the location is perfect.
