Great Eastern Motor Inn

The kids loved the room being on two levels, and the staff were really nice. We chose this place for the train experience, just a few minutes’ drive away. The internet could’ve been better, though, then I’d have given it six stars.

We were exhausted and needed somewhere for a family of five after our other accommodation fell through. Even though the office had closed, they found us a room when we rang at 8.00 pm and added a roll away bed. Fantastic service.

The room was comfortable and clean, and the staff were helpful and friendly. It’s close to everything, so I’d stay again.

We had planned to spend up to 10 weekends in 2026 in the Gympie region, which would have meant 20 nights, plus meals and drinks. After this, I’d stay elsewhere. I got an overnight text about a booking I supposedly made, though I hadn’t booked anything, had no plans to visit town and was home at the time. There was no trace of it in my emails, Wotif account or anywhere connected to the number the hotel gave me. When I called, the woman was dismissive and made no effort to look into it. She said she was “doing me a favour” by charging just one night for what she said was a booking of several nights, then told me to “call Wotif if I have a problem.” I was very disappointed by the lack of care or accountability around what could have been fraud or a billing issue.
