Gang Gang Villas

We had a spacious two-bedroom cabin for a week and didn't regret booking it. It had everything we needed, including a full kitchen, spa bath, wood-burning fireplace, AC and ceiling fan. Trees surrounded the cabin, and birds came to the verandah, including cockatoos, kookaburras and friendly magpies. It was peaceful by day and very quiet at night. Halls Gap town was a two-minute drive away, with three to four cafes, two to three hotel restaurants, and the very nice Flame Brothers Restaurant near the cafes, which I'd recommend. There are plenty of sights nearby, easy drives and short walks, plus hikes from a couple of hours if you're up for them. I'd certainly go back sometime.

The villa was gorgeous and had everything we needed. Our private spa room felt romantic, with dim lighting options, and there was a fireplace as well as a heater. The WiFi Dongle worked okay when we put it outside, though being out in the bush, you can't expect much. My only change would be a bigger fridge, but that's not an issue if you plan to eat out most of the time.

Wildlife was right nearby, including cockatoos on the balcony, and the area was lovely and quiet. The villas had all the amenities for a good stay, like a spa bath, wood fire heater, electric blankets, kitchen and laundry. Walking tracks are just across the road, and Halls Gap shops are an easy walk or short drive away. A short drive also gets you to iconic Grampians spots such as MacKenzie Falls, The Balconies, Pinnacle Lookout and more.

We got a clean, well equipped cabin for two called Love Shack at a reasonable price. It had a big two-person spa and was within walking distance of town. Sue and Col helped us out with a last-minute booking, then texted useful directions and restaurant tips in the days before we arrived. Big thanks to them. The food and atmosphere at the Kookaburra Hotel alone made the trip from Melbourne worthwhile. Hopefully we'll be back soon.
