Hamelin Pool Caravan Park

The staff were friendly, and you can get food and alcohol there. The van sites are nice and flat, with a pool, though there's no dump point. Bring your own drinking water since there's no hookup; the amenities are clean and use bore water. Power is limited because the place runs on a generator. Telstra coverage was available, and it's a short walk to the quarry and Stromatolites.

We won't be going back. The Stromatolites pool hasn't worked for years, apparently since a storm, and the kitchen sink was blocked. The kitchen also looked dirty. We paid for a powered site, but the fuse blew before we could even plug in, because someone else's caravan was using too many appliances. The manager was a nice lady, but looked tired and overworked. She doesn't respond after 7.30pm. There are roadhouses at the petrol stations before the turnoff, and next time we'd definitely use other sites.

I stopped mainly to see the Stromatolites, but the area is fenced off and you can't get to the pool. The infrastructure is run down, and there's no drinking water.

The history here is incredible, and the quirky shop is so cool, with an incredible wine selection. The lovely lady running the place is really nice to talk to. It'll be even better once the boardwalk opens next season. Definitely worth a visit, and I'd stay here again.
