BIG 4 Hay

The pool was handy for cooling off, though it could use a vacuum. Our drive-in caravan site had plenty of room, and the toilet block was a convenient walk away and very clean. I got all my washing done because the machine offered different cycles. I still hope to find an adjustable shower head on my travels, the ones here could be more practical for ladies. 🤭

The grounds at BIG4 Hay are immaculate, and the team were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They went above and beyond to make it a good experience, and I’m grateful for the hospitality. I’ve seen complaints about the service, but I wonder whether that’s down to the staff or the expectations of some entitled guests. For a clean, friendly, well-managed park, BIG4 Hay is well worth considering. Five stars from me.

The South Hay Pub is only a few steps away, with excellent meals, beers and really friendly people. My only gripe is the huge service centre being built on the roundabout. It hides both the pub and caravan park, so we missed the entrance and had to turn around, which is tricky with a caravan behind you. The park itself has clean, shady sites, a pool and is cat friendly. We had a level gravel drive-through site with a patio, which I loved. Other sites are grass. I’d recommend staying here.

The couple managing this little park are very friendly and helpful, and clearly take pride in looking after it. We spent two nights in a cabin that suited my husband and me perfectly, with a comfortable bed, table and chairs, sofa, air conditioning, TV, crockery, cutlery and glassware, plus a toaster, kettle, cooktop, pots and pans. The park is well maintained and has a playground, pool, camp kitchen and amenities block. We’d happily stay again and recommend it to anyone travelling to or through Hay.
