This is a quiet town with lovely scenery, and the old building is amazing, staying cool even in summer. There were a few cobwebs inside, so it could use a bit more cleaning and upkeep, and the BBQ was dirty. One bedroom window was cracked. Still, what a historic place.

There’s no mobile reception, but the post office has a free phone box outside. The place itself is comfortable, with a toilet inside and the shower in an outhouse. There’s a courtyard with a table and BBQ, plus large panel heaters for winter.

The stables are in a great spot, with the kitchen and everything else within walking distance. We found it really comfortable for two, with a loft-style bedroom and an ensuite upstairs. There’s also a shower and toilet outside for our exclusive use. I’d definitely recommend this accommodation.

The stables could do with a proper clean, and the rooster’s crowing at a horrible early hour was annoying. Still, it’s a great place for some R&R, and I loved the location.

The old post office has been restored really nicely, with its original features and heritage preserved. What an amazing place to stay.
