Holbrook Hotel

We've visited a few times, and tonight was our best experience yet. A lovely, efficient waitress took our order at the table, so we didn't have to go up to the bar. All four meals were great: a Parma, lamb, and two pizzas. The veggies were nicely roasted and full of flavour. Five stars all around.

We both tried the dinner special for $30, Sri Lankan Lamb Curry with spiced green beans, cauliflower, fried shallots, mango chutney and jasmin rice. The lamb was tender, the spice mix aromatic and balanced, and the serving generous. We were delighted by the meal. Service was casual, friendly and professional, and the other dishes sounded varied and yummy, so we'll eat here on the way back from our holiday. Thanks to Holbrook Hotel for such a treat on the first night of our trip.

The pub had been refurbished recently and felt quite nice, with a pleasant atmosphere and laid-back, friendly service. My wife and I stopped in for a quiet meal on our way to Melbourne and were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. The owner raises cattle and sheep, and those dishes were superb. This delightful town is well worth a stop. Thank you.

Dinner was very good: local beef, generous portions, and a tender, flavourful steak. We also ordered a burger and a couple of LLBs, and my teenager thought the burger was awesome. The room cost $138 and dinner was $77. Comfortable, clean and welcoming, with people who clearly care. I'd happily stay again. We were travelling between Melbourne and Sydney and booked a twin room with a teenager. It's also the accessible room, and felt recently renovated and thoughtfully put together. The beds were comfortable, the linen crisp, and the pillows genuinely decent. Little touches included a tidy bathroom soap setup, velvet chair, potted plant by the window and blanket over the luggage stand. It's still basic motel-style accommodation, but those details made it feel considered. Check-in was easy. Payment is taken when booking, then you go to the bar on arrival and they sort you out. The staff were helpful and friendly throughout. There was plenty of easy parking out back. For EVs, two fast chargers are directly across the road near the submarine.
