Starhaven Retreat

The room had plenty of space, a comfortable bed, a walk-in closet, a roomy bathroom and its own balcony. We also enjoyed the continental breakfasts with Rob, Ian and the other guests, and a lovely evening chatting together on the deck. The house has lounge areas on every level, plus an indoor spa, sauna, bar and cinema room downstairs. There’s a deck to relax on and an elevator if you’d rather skip the stairs. Mickey is a very well-behaved, cute dog, and the story behind his name is worth asking about. Rob and Ian greeted us warmly and were gracious hosts throughout our midweek stay-cay in early January 2026. We had lunch at Flying Brick Cider Co, where we enjoyed the ciders and delicious menu, then spent a quiet evening in our room, probably because we were so full. And keep an eye out for how the wet hand towels work! Indented Head is lovely, and we had a fabulous, relaxing stay.

We only stayed two days, but could easily have become squatters in that exquisite spa room. Rob and Ian were the BEST hosts. Up for a drink and a chat when you want company, and quietly pottering in the background when you want peace. Everything was in place, and they’ve gone so far above and beyond that they must operate on a higher plane of hospitality. Somehow they’ve fitted the Ritz-Carlton inside a two-car garage. I know, still dramatic, and I regret nothing. When we first pulled up, I thought I’d been scammed out of a lot of money. All I could see was a two-car garage, and I felt like I was about to be homeless. I checked the address, recalled the online photos, checked the address again, then called, fully expecting to be ghosted. Then Rob appeared, friendly and bubbly, and talked me down from my wildly over-dramatic existential crisis. This was an 11th-anniversary surprise for my husband, and it turned out to be a surprise for me too. Thank you, Rob and Ian, for making our stay pure magic. Hubby has been telling everyone how magical it was, and thinks TV made you famous. Apparently he’ll have everyone wanting to meet you! We’ll be back. I’m clearing space in my calendar already, and I haven’t even unpacked.

The views were out of this world, and we loved the spa, sauna and our massages. My partner and I spent our third anniversary here, and it was absolutely wonderful. The property is stunning but still feels like home, and the owners helped with anything we needed. It was a perfect experience for us. Thank you both so much, we can’t wait to come back!

The chats over breakfast and the cinema experience were both great, and they arranged massages for us too. We went all out and loved every second. From the champagne and canapés when we arrived to the transport to and from the G train experience, our three-night stay felt wonderfully relaxing. My partner and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary, and Rob and Ian made us feel at home from the moment they opened the door. They’re genuinely welcoming, and it’s hard to fault these guys. I’d highly recommend it for a cheeky getaway, you can be sure your needs will be met. We’ll be back at some point. Thanks from me and Sally to Rob, Ian and Mickey, of course, for taking care of us.
