NRMA Jindabyne Holiday Park

The location by the lake and town is the big draw, and the team were friendly and very helpful. The sites themselves are pretty average, though, and could use better work on water management and leveling. I’d still come back for the setting. Thanks to everyone there 👍

I left and booked somewhere else after a very uncomfortable conversation at reception. Around 5:00 pm, I asked an older woman at the desk about a room for one night. She said straight away that the property was full, even though I’d checked online before arriving and could see several rooms listed as available. When I mentioned that, she quoted $325 for one room, then, after I pointed out the other availability, changed the offer and mentioned a different room for over $400. I felt judged, as if assumptions were being made about me and whether I could afford to stay. I can’t say whether that was intentional, but the manner came across as dismissive and discriminatory. It’s disappointing to be treated that way at the start of snow season, when visitors should feel welcome. I hope management looks into it and makes sure guests receive the same respect and professionalism.

We were happy with the site, even though it was small, a bit uneven, and close to other campers. You may need chocks to level a van. We had power and brought our little dog, who had grass to enjoy, plus there’s a pleasant riverside walking area. The coded amenities, kids’ playground and camp kitchen were handy too. Just be aware the amenities get cleaned around 8.30/9am, so a sleep-in might mean waiting to use the loo. The park is right by the lake and across the road from Woolies and other shops, all an easy walk. The two women at reception were lovely and down to earth, and had me laughing as soon as I arrived. Five star service, thank you.

The Deluxe Snow Gum Cabin had a Queen sized bed and bunks, with a double below and a single above. We found the bathroom smaller than expected, but it did what we needed, and the room was neat and very clean. There was also a mini kitchen counter and AC. It made a great base for exploring Lake Jindabyne, with Mt Kosciuszko about a 30 min drive away and Woolies and nearby restaurants just 3 min away.
