Moon River Motor Inn

The back door opens toward the river, and there’s a microwave and fridge in the room. It’s a basic roadside motel bedroom, but what more could you want while passing through the charm of the great Kempsey? The setting by the river is lovely. 10/10 would recommend.

After seven hours of driving, I arrived after dark and was keen for a swim. I’d called after finding the motel on trivago to check that late check-in was possible and a room was available. At check-in I asked if the pool was closed. The manager said it technically was, but they weren’t going to stop me from having a quick dip. That pool felt so good! The room was just what we needed, roomy enough not to feel crowded, and the table out back with a river view was a great addition. I’d stay here again if passing through Kempsey, and hope to arrive earlier next time to try their Chinese restaurant. It smelled Devine at check-in. We left early, and check-out was as simple as putting the keys in a lock box. That’s also an option for after-hours check-in.

Good location and great value. The rooms were tidy and simple, with a lovely river view, plus a microwave and fridge. What more do you need? Don’t listen to the people complaining, this place is fine!

We needed a bed for the night and rang late. They answered, and we ended up staying three nights. The room was decent and clean. Thanks for an enjoyable stay!
