A road closure left us needing an unplanned stop, and we were lucky to come across Kimba Gateway Hotel halfway across Australia. Aavash greeted us warmly and was very friendly, so we felt at ease straight away. The room was great, the food was delicious, and a cold beer after the long drive hit the spot. This unexpected stay turned into a memorable one. Thank you for the warm hospitality 🤍
We had the executive suite, and the room itself was nice. The door didn't lock, though, and little basics like biscuits would have made the stay more comfortable. The breakfast pack they offered was pretty ordinary too. Surely there could be something better than Coco Pops and tropical juice.
We’ve stopped at this lovely pub for dinner twice now and have been glad both times. The garlic bread was delicious, as were the chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce and the beef schnitzel with Kilpatrick sauce. It’s an easy walk from the free or donation camping at Kimba Recreation Reserve. Worth a stop if you’re passing through Kimba.
The staff were friendly, the bar was great, and my room was clean. The water pressure was low, but I was still satisfied. The kitchen shuts at 8 p.m. There were lots of white customers, and a few stared at me as if they’d never seen an Asian person before, lol. I hope more Asians visit in future so people aren’t so surprised.
The food and service were great, but I couldn’t understand the seating setup. In 2025, smokers got the lovely veranda, while anyone eating had to sit on the lawn. On an earlier visit, smokers were in the covered corner of the outdoor area. It felt like very poor planning for this day and age.
