Kangaroo Island Bayview Villas

The apartments had everything we needed and were up high enough for a decent sea view. Kingscote was close by, and we had a great trip. We'd stay again.

We were in #1, which was very clean and neat, with a great view. Town is about a 20 minute walk if you feel like going on foot. There were plenty of plates and glasses, though we could have used more cooking utensils, pots and pans, plus a baking tray for frozen pizza. The queen mattress felt a bit hard. A few things took some figuring out. The washing machine only worked after we turned the taps on, and the shower's cold tap needed several turns before water came through. The toilet kept running and made a loud refill noise every 15-20 minutes at night, so we shut it off at the wall while sleeping. We'd still stay here again with the kids when visiting KI.

The place was dirty, including the walls, hotplate and kitchen exhaust fan, and there were lots of practical problems. The bathroom taps leaked constantly and wouldn't turn off properly. The kitchen tap was faulty and hard to use, the fridge was extremely noisy at night, and the ensuite exhaust fan was loud and couldn't be switched off. There was no hall or carport light, and getting to the front door meant climbing 20 steep stairs. The sliding balcony door's screen lock was faulty and could lock you out if you closed it from the balcony. The website mentioned a BBQ, ceiling fans and a DVD, but none of those were there. Very disappointing, and not what was advertised.

The balcony is a bonus, and the photo shows the view from it. I've stayed here four times, and it's a comfortable family place with more than enough cutlery, crockery, pans, glasses, utensils, foil, cling film and baking paper. Some things, especially in the ensuite, are looking very tired. The sliding windows and door are also hard to open because the tracks need a good clean.
