I absolutely loved staying at Wunan House. It was the cheapest place in town, yet easily one of the best value options, which was a relief while travelling through the Kimberley, where everything seems overpriced. The staff were great, and the air-conditioned rooms were clean and nicely presented. There was coffee, biscuits and cold water in the fridge, plus a big square shower head that made showering feel like standing under a waterfall. I’ve paid more than twice as much per night at other places in Kununnura and had a much worse stay.

We loved the local art on the walls and front door, along with the locally made tables. What stood out even more was learning that all proceeds go directly into local East Kimberley communities and social programs, as their website explains. For the price of our room, we were surprised by its quality and the attention to detail. We had a fantastic stay at Wunan House and highly recommend it. Brilliant.

We liked this place so much that we extended our two-night booking to three. It’s a great place to stay, with a nice mix of hotel and hostel: spacious hotel rooms with big bathrooms, plus a living area, kitchen and outdoor seating if you want to use them. Breakfast is a simple help-yourself buffet with toast, yoghurt, cereal, fruit, coffee and juice. We just love it here and can recommend it!

A light breakfast is included, and the airport pick-up and drop-off can be arranged at no charge. The rooms are a good size with nice amenities, and the staff are great. It’s an Indigenous-owned and run place with a lovely, homely feel, in a quiet part of town but still within a five-minute walk of the main tourist precinct. I’d happily stay again anytime.

I came to Kununurra for business and can’t say enough good things about Wunan House. Sharon keeps the bed and breakfast so clean and well stocked, and made me feel very welcome. I’ll definitely be back.
