Our family holiday was ruined by the condition of the accommodation and the host's conduct. When we arrived, the house hadn't been hygienically cleaned. There was pubic hair in the shower, which I photographed with timestamps. It seemed the owner realised after her housekeeper had left that the property hadn't been properly cleaned in a long time. She admitted as much, yet still kept money from our security deposit. We left the house tidy, with only four dishes in the sink. Later, the host made false, extreme claims about the property's condition, saying we'd used linen we never touched and that there were stains. That makes it seem the linen, like the bathroom, was already unclean and was simply being blamed on us. There was no evidence of damage, but she deducted $150 from our deposit. In later calls and messages she was aggressive and inappropriate, swore, and tried to pressure us into leaving a positive review. Booking.com has been wonderful through all this and has already started steps to recover the deposit, but the stress, time, and energy this has taken have been horrible. I've never had an experience like this. I strongly recommend avoiding this property. The owner shouldn't be running a hospitality business.

Sitting outside in the beautiful garden was the best part of a wonderfully relaxing weekend, one of the most relaxing I've ever had. Everything was perfect, and I love Kyneton.

Genevieve was a great host, responsive and helpful. She went out of her way to arrange an early check-in and have the fire burning when we arrived. Harpsichord House was perfect for a few days away with my husband. It's a lovely cottage, pet friendly too, with comfy beds, beautiful linen, and a log fire. The large doors open onto the deck and back garden, bringing in winter sun through the day. It was a perfect place to sit and read. The kitchen had what we needed for casual meals, and the modern, well-equipped bathroom came with lovely toiletries, big fluffy towels, and robes. The thoughtful touches made it feel so welcoming: plenty of throw rugs, quirky lockers for hanging clothes, breakfast provisions on arrival, and an endless supply of firewood. Highly recommend Harpsichord House.

Harpsichord House exceeded our expectations. It's a chic, well-equipped space on a quiet residential street, an easy walk from Piper Street. There were generous provisions, with lots of towels and bathrobes, lovely toiletries, and scrumptious breakfast goods. The crumpets were so good we bought two more packets to take home. Highly recommended.
