Tabourie Lake Motel

The room wasn’t too bad and the beds were OK, but the microwave hadn’t been cleaned underneath or behind for ages, and there was a dead blow fly. There were no tea towels or dishcloth, and the cutlery selection was poor. The grounds were neglected, with cigarette bits around and lots of guests smoking. There was no friendly greeting or interaction, and no pool or BBQ area. It’s very run down. The only reason to stay would be the price.

Dust everywhere, spiders in the room, dead flies, thick cobwebs in the corners and on the ceiling, and visible mold in several places. It felt filthy and neglected. This place is an absolute dump. Never again. Even if you’re desperate and can’t find anywhere else, keep driving. A random roadside toilet in Australia is cleaner. Avoid it at all costs.

We shifted the single bed about 30cm to fit our portacot and found five dead bugs and the biggest toenail. The whole place felt dirty and gross. The bathroom was badly dated, with mold all over the shower, and we didn’t see a single staff member in two days, so I can’t really comment on the service. A sign said room service only happens every three days. There was also a kitchen sign telling guests to leave it “CLEAN AND TIDY” or be charged. We found it disgusting and didn’t use it.

I arrived for a confirmed booking and found the office unattended, with only a sign listing phone numbers. After several tries, someone answered and casually said all reservations had been cancelled a week earlier. I’d received no cancellation email at all. I’d actually kept getting emails about things to do in Ulladulla, and even got a confirmation for my stay. At 4pm on arrival day, I was told to “contact Booking.com”. I didn’t bother, since they couldn’t manage something as basic as sending a cancellation notice and I wasn’t expecting much help. Luckily, I found somewhere much better, with better service and reviews. The cancellation email finally arrived at 8pm that night, long after it was useful. Completely unprofessional and inconvenient, and I won’t book here again. With construction underway, it seems pretty clear they’re scrambling to renovate and try to save themselves from all the bad reviews.
