The lodge gave us that Tassie wilderness feel while still being a beautiful, comfortable place to stay. There was plenty of wildlife around the grounds and nearby land, and if you're really lucky, you might spot a tassie devil after dark. The hosts were warm and helpful, with lots of local tips on what to see and do. Keen to come back!

We had this lovely lodge to ourselves for three nights and days, and there was nothing I could fault. The scenery was amazing, and tassie devils and quolls were right outside the window. The meals were wonderful too. I even got started on a puzzle. I’m itching to return in season so the men folk can go fishing 🐟

The setting at Thousand Lakes Lodge is unusual, but I was disappointed by the room information. My booking described a window, while the room I arrived to had only a skylight. If you're considering an 'Explorer Room' and want a view, check directly before booking so you know whether it has one.

Bec knows Tasmania inside out and had heaps of advice about lesser-known places to visit. Staying here was an unexpected treat. It's a proper off-grid, wild experience, unlike anywhere else we'd found in Tasmania. Go in expecting a very different vibe and just roll with it.

We went in October, and seeing native animals in their own habitat was a real highlight: pademalons, bandicoots, native hens, lizards and wombats, to name a few. The lodge also makes a great base for day trips to waterfalls, and every season offers a different experience. The place itself is stunning, with distinctive views and surroundings. Bec's service and attention to detail stood out most. She went above and beyond to make our stay special, and we came away with memories we'll carry with us. We'll be back.
