Gill, the lovely hostess, makes the place feel warm and welcoming. You can wander through the curated garden, look around the rotating art exhibit, then relax with coffee and a fresh scone from the café. There are local lookout points for keen hikers, too. Inside, the accommodation feels like stepping into a traditional Japanese bedroom. From the balcony, you can take in the Origami-inspired architecture, thoughtfully built to complement the natural Australian landscape. A lovely place to slow down and take it all in.

My wife and I included a walk to QDOS in our planned walk around Lorne. We had a lovely lunch and coffee at the Cafe, which had dog-friendly options, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The forest setting was very tranquil. We browsed the artwork in the gallery and gardens, and had a very pleasant interlude.

The grounds have a lovely feel, and breakfast comes with plenty of choices, all of it outstanding. Jill made us feel welcome with her personality and eye for detail. The Qdos treehouses are compact and peaceful, with all the luxuries you could want. SIX stars from me!

Those baked eggs at breakfast were superb, and the indoor and outdoor artwork was something special too. We stayed one night in the Japanese-inspired treetop accommodation, and the location and room were both five-star. Gill and Graeme made the whole visit feel special with their service. We’ll definitely come back. Highly recommended.

The toastie was great, and it really didn’t take long to arrive. The staff were so nice that when they thought it had taken too long, they even offered me a brownie as an apology. Had a great time here. Highly recommend.
