We hardly had time for the Wi-Fi or smart TV, since we were out at wineries, playing aqua golf and putt-putt at the nearby Hunter Valley Gardens, and nearly adopted a vineyard kitten. At night, if there’s a full moon, you can spot microbats catching insects in the moonlight. Our friends and I come to Lovedale Cottages about once a year, usually staying in the large 12-person lodge near the communal pool. The kitchen is fully stocked, everything’s clean, and there’s a spa bath, an extra bathroom and plenty of toilet paper. Two BBQs help feed the group, and Hudson the Blue Heeler is always on hand to help clean up. On hot days the pool is a relief, and the kids never get bored.

Quiet, rustic little cabin in a handy central spot for visiting the wineries. The fridge was stocked with supplies. The air con could use an upgrade, though it worked well enough for us.

A short drive gets you to the rest of the Hunter Valley and all it has to offer. The place was rustic, comfortable and quiet. They provided bacon, eggs, milk, butter and spreadsheet.

We had a great stay in these characterful rustic cottages. The big back deck on the social house was a favourite. We’d definitely come back.
