Fraser Island Wilderness Retreat

Jenny, the Manager, deserves a special thank you. She was so helpful and went out of her way for us. The staff were welcoming, and the food was excellent. Our room was nothing fancy, but it was clean and comfortable. We had a great time.

We had a lovely meal here, the dishes were excellent and the staff were attentive and genuinely welcoming. Such a beautiful place. I recommend it.

We come to the island regularly and often stop by for an afternoon drink. This last visit was easily our worst experience in years. The service used to be pretty average, but this time the bartender seemed unsure of what she was doing and the cocktails were awful. Paying $24 for one wouldn't bother me if it was any good, but it was rubbish and the staff didn't seem to know their jobs. The beers were hot and out of date, and the mocktails were undrinkable, like sour milk in a cup. A few more hours of staff training would help instead of putting people behind the bar and hoping they'll deliver. This is a holiday resort people look forward to supporting for dinner and drinks while they're away. Do better.

After camping for 7 nights, arriving at Galangoor K'gari Retreat in Happy Valley at the end of our walk was wonderful. We'd just completed the magnificent K'gari Great Walk across the island, and Lynette's BBQ pack made a delicious evening meal after walking 8 days. Robert and Kane kindly helped with drop off and pick up at the trailheads, too. Without their generosity, we couldn't have done the walk, and we really appreciated it.
