The pork knuckle was my favourite thing we tried, and you need to book it a day or two ahead since it isn't on the menu. The rest of the food was hearty and tasty, with fresh dishes arriving pretty quickly. It seems especially suited to a winter meal. The wine and drinks list is astounding, and they have several non-alcoholic beers if you want the full experience and still need to drive down the mountain. Dessert was good too, though as a huge sweet tooth I'd have liked a much larger, more German-sized portion. Maybe that's just me. We came as a group of about ten, including one person who was actually German. I hadn't tried much German food before and wasn't sure what to expect, but it was pretty good. The warm, inviting decor set a fun tone. Tate looked after us, friendly, patient, funny, professional and really knowledgeable about wine. He clearly loves his job and German culture, and was the best restaurant staff member I've encountered. Service was impeccable, and Tate made us feel valued. A great evening out, and definitely prebook that pork knuckle.

The dinner was excellent, and the drinks were really good too. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere felt welcoming. I'd definitely recommend it if you're in the area.

I ended up spending two hours at King Ludwigs, just enjoying the atmosphere and every bite. The service, food, drinks and views were all incredible, and I felt welcome straight away. The Pink Punch cocktail went really well with the pork knuckle and breztel. I was so excited about the knuckle that I forgot to take a photo first 😅 I ordered tea at the end and really appreciated the little detail of loose tea leaves. I'll be back to try more of the menu.

The covered patio looking out at the glasshouse mountains takes your breath away all over again. Inside, there's memorabilia and German decorations everywhere, and even the owner and staff wear traditional Dirndl and Lederhosen. It gives the whole restaurant a feeling of Bavarian enchantment. This is more than excellent food and delicious beer, it's an experience of a lifetime. Love the food, the beer, the atmosphere and especially these people. Thank you so much, we'll be back!

I finally went in for dinner after driving past King Ludwigs a few times while working nearby and wondering what it was like. The place felt warm and welcoming from the front door. Tate served us and was lovely, helping us through the menu and making recommendations that were all spot on. I had the Wurst Fest, my wife chose the schnitzel, and we shared some german beer before finishing with a piece of apple pie. Wonderful meal, lovely restaurant and amazing staff. Looking forward to another visit, hopefully when I'm not driving so I can enjoy a few more beers.
