Mallacoota Hotel Motel

The spot is great and the staff were lovely, but my meal was awful. The steak smelled and tasted off, so I couldn't eat it. I mentioned it politely to the wait staff, but nothing was done and they never got back to me.

It's only a short walk from Foreshore Caravan Park, and the beer was cold. The service was okay, but the meals were a real letdown: seven of the eight of us were unhappy. The parmas were tiny, the chips cold, the vegetables underdone, and the calamari tasted like washed cardboard. My steak was tough as old boots. Staff didn't ask about how much food we'd left. The vegetarian lasagne was the only meal anyone enjoyed. We won't be back.

The seafood platter was generous, delicious, nicely presented, and reasonably priced. We ordered it without the crayfish, and it came out quickly even though the place was busy. Having worked in hospitality, I thought that was a credit to the staff. We hadn't stayed at the accommodation, just came for dinner. We sat in the beer garden with our dog, and they were very accommodating with the several dogs there with their people. Dinner was amazing.

The room was clean, the bed was comfy, and I liked the updates. Having plates, bowls, cutlery, dishwashing liquid, and a sponge supplied was a nice touch. I usually bring my own things to clean hotel cups. I've stayed here a few times over the years, and the pool was disappointing this most recent time because it was very cloudy. The bistro food is good.
