The front desk managers were kind, and I know they can’t control every feature of the building. Still, the disorganisation, cleaning and photos used to advertise the rooms need work. We left more excited to be leaving than we’d been to arrive, and won’t come back. We booked the beachfront towers for a relaxing weekend away. At reception, an older woman said there was no booking under my name. After 10-15 minutes, she realised she’d spelled it wrong. I understand that can happen, but as the trip went on it seemed pretty normal. Then she couldn’t find our keys and never did. We were given a spare attached to a different room number. Parking on the ground level was difficult too. The first room was nothing like the photos, which set expectations it couldn’t meet. There was a disturbing amount of grime and food on the appliances, including the oven, mould in at least one spot in each room, a toilet almost detached from the floor, and a smell so bad it was hard to breathe. I’m also a severe asthmatic. Floors throughout were sticky. I went back to reception and told the younger woman what we’d found. They said they’d send the cleaner back and offered us a room on a higher level. It meant moving to basement parking, which was horrendous and badly in need of an upgrade, though I know the managers didn’t build it. We hoped the second room would be better, but it had more of the same, aside from the mould and sticky floors. There was damage to doors, dirty appliances and blinds, stains on the walls, and a balcony sliding door that kept getting stuck. The bathroom drains smelled so bad I wanted to vomit. We decided to put up with it and enjoy what we could of the trip, because I didn’t want to be that person. My partner also noticed that the elevator registration certificates were out of date and will report it. There was only one smoke alarm in each room, strangely placed, which also didn’t seem right. I understand not every part of the building is within the managers’ control, but they need improvements in organisation and cleaning, and more accurate photos so future guests aren’t continually disappointed.

The room I got was more like a cheap hotel, rundown, poorly furnished and not clean. It looked nothing like the online photos. They use a handful of edited pictures of 1 or 2 genuinely nice rooms, so I expected a nice stay in a similar room. They even texted me offering early check in, but none of my windows were clean, including the balcony ones where they couldn’t be reached easily. I doubt they’d post photos of this room, because it would be difficult to make it look as nice.

Both lift registrations had been expired for a month. In each of the two units we stayed in there was just 1 smoke alarm, with empty spots where others should have been attached. Can you explain why? This has been reported.

The view and location were nice, but that was where the good parts ended. The photos on booking.com showed superior rooms, so if you stay and want a nice apartment, make sure to book that category. I thought I’d booked a nice place with a spa bath and a big ocean view, and was very, very wrong. I specifically wanted a spa bath for a relaxing weekend away, since our own apartment doesn’t have one. The carpark was a nightmare, with horrifically tight spaces for an SUV. The building is ancient, and everything needs a key, even exiting the carpark. There are no sensors, so you have to insert the key manually to open and close it. The keyhole is so low that you have to get out of the car each time, which is tough when you’re 30 weeks pregnant. We were in a two-bedroom apartment, not one, but I can’t see how four people could stay there. The hot water tank was so small that I got less than 30 seconds of hot water. The furniture was outdated and very worn, the bedding stained, and the mattress far too soft. My partner and I had only 2 pillows between us, which was difficult. I emailed management on the first night about my disappointment. I was basically told I’d booked the wrong room, should have paid extra for a nicer one, and that these are privately owned apartments, not a hotel. I understand that, but you’d expect management to set some standards for how each owner keeps their apartment. The receptionist was lovely when we arrived, but the response to my email showed no compassion. I can understand not offering an upgrade, but bringing up 2 new pillows would have been a nice gesture. I wouldn’t stay again, and anyone used to 4-5 star places will probably be disappointed.

We came back in September 2025 and spent eight weeks in the same apartment, just as delightful as before. On our first stay, we had a roomy ninth-floor place with lovely views towards Cotton Tree. The layout worked well, with a big kitchen table and power points nearby so we could both use our computers. There was space to leave our suitcases out and still reach most of the wardrobe. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking, and the full-size fridge was useful. We also had a washer/dryer, clothes horse for drying things in the balcony sun, and an iron and board. A few small maintenance jobs were needed, like painting and repairs to doors and blinds, but I was told they were already arranged. The underground parking was quite a challenge with a large car, with pillars everywhere. It took a few attempts and a couple of days to get the hang of it, and we tried to come and go when neighbouring spaces were empty. Mariska and Taze were lovely and accommodating, sorting out a couple of cupboard and door issues and booking us in again for the following year.
