Elouera Tower Beachfront Apartments

We love the ambience, the weather and how easy it is to get around, plus the shopping! We’ve stayed three times now, and each visit has been awesome. We even get the same unit every time. Hopefully we’ll be back next year! -Kerry Rogers (Melbourne) and Robyn Trinick (Papamoa Beach, NZ)

We stayed there last week for the third time because we love the sea view, and already knew the furniture was quite worn and dated. The apartment was relatively clean and the kitchen fully stocked. What shocked us was the cockroach infestation. We killed over 20 in the four nights we were there. I still get the creeps thinking about it.

It’s a nice property in a great location, and it was pretty well maintained when we’d stayed before. This trip was vastly different. The toilet blocked, and I was offered a bucket and glove to unblock it myself. I was warned I’d be charged for a plumber if the blockage was just from using too much toilet paper. We’re adults and teenage kids who don’t have this issue at home, and we’re not four-year-olds shoving paper down for fun. I got it to clear with the brush and lots of flushing, and there were no further problems while we were there. I’d also heard from friends on a lower level that their sinks drained very slowly, so maybe there’s a plumbing issue. Two days later, five hours after checkout, a woman called screaming that my family and I had lied about fixing the toilet and that she’d had to unblock it herself. I told her it had been clear when I left that morning. She yelled that I was a liar and told me never to return to the hotel. She was rude from the start, and it only got worse. I’m still wondering what she expected me to do with the toilet paper I’d pulled out and put in the bucket. Should I have put it down the garbage chute? Unit 54, you have a plumbing issue, and staff are screaming at customers and calling them liars. What a shame, because it’s a nice property, but customers should be treated with some kindness.

We could even watch whales swim by from our room, and the location was beautiful. The only little gripe was that the couches were old, saggy and not very comfortable. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay.
