The airboat trips with Sam and Corey were the best part for me, and the guides and hosts clearly know the wetlands and care about sharing what they know. We saw wallabies hopping and water buffalo grazing right outside our room, with wildlife everywhere across the floodplain. Even the scenic views seemed to change at every turn. Bamurru Plains felt like an oasis in the Northern Territory's top end. Jon welcomed us from the start, and his enthusiasm for the lodge really came through. Liam and Tiffani made wonderful breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, and handled my vegetarian request thoughtfully. Every meal felt Michelin-starred to me. Jo and Matt also deserve thanks for making sure any issue was sorted quickly. We spent three unforgettable nights at Bamurru Plains Wetlands Lodge. The place combines comfort and adventure, with the option to relax by the pool or head out on one of the tours. The airboat rides each morning, skimming over the water among so much wildlife, were exhilarating. I'm grateful to everyone who made the stay so memorable. I've travelled to every country in the world, and these were among my most memorable holidays.

The rooms were a highlight, especially waking up to wallabies hopping and water buffalo moving across the floodplain outside. The setting is remote and peaceful, with lovely, abundant wildlife. What really topped it all, though, was the team. They were wonderful hosts, happy to answer questions and find ways to make the stay better. I had a great time at Bamurru.

Watching buffalo and wallabies wander while corellas called overhead from the pool was magical. The sunset canapes beside the wetland were special too. Each day we went out on the airboat looking for different birds and crocs, and I'll never forget it. The staff were exceptional, the food was wonderful, and I really appreciated how they looked after my gluten-free diet. The scenic flight in was a highlight as well, though there wasn't much fresh air in that very old plane. It was a fabulous way to see what our NT country has to offer, whether you're new to Australia or, like us, old country farm folk from further south. The connection with the flora and fauna made all the logistics of getting there worthwhile.

We paid a lot for a stay that didn't live up to its promise. We were there from Friday to Sunday. On arrival, we were told the signature airboat activity couldn't happen, and a boat ride was offered instead. That didn't happen either. We got very short safari trips to look at cows and termites, then were left on our own for much of the day. The guide was nice, but most of the other staff seemed a bit grumpy, perhaps because the GM was away. The rooms are unusual and the food was really good. It's not a bad place, but the activities disappointed us and weren't as advertised. It felt massively overmarketed and overpriced.

The pool looks out over the plains, with buffalo, wallabies, and so many birds around. That's the experience. The lodge is in a really exciting location, and its simple, comfortable style suits the place perfectly. I'm very grateful I got to stay at this beautiful property. John and the rest of the guys do their best to help everyone enjoy this unique destination. Great!
