I slept really well, 10/10. The beds were super comfortable, with quality sheets and warm blankets, and the A/C stayed cold even on a 45 degree day. I don't get the recent negative reviews. The rooms were very clean and tastefully put together, with character alongside modern touches. You can tell it's an old hotel, but it's been kept up impeccably and didn't look or feel dated.

I'm very upset and won't be coming back. I left two items of clothing in the wardrobe, including one that was brand new with tags, and staff did nothing to help find or return them. I was told nothing was in the room and perhaps the next guests took them. To me, that sounded like a way to avoid responsibility by blaming someone else, and I believe a staff member must have taken the clothes. They couldn't simply have vanished. If the next guests really took them, it suggests housekeeping hadn't properly cleaned the room. The lack of professionalism and customer care was deeply disappointing. The service had already been poor when we arrived: we waited about 15 minutes for anyone to appear at reception, without even an apology. The room itself was spacious and nice, though it had a strange smell when we first entered.

After the long trip from the UK to Melbourne, it was such a relief to arrive at The Kinson. Our room was quiet, clean and spacious, with balconies. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel is about a 10-minute tram ride from the centre.

This was an absolutely terrible stay. We booked two nights and arrived around 11:30 pm, but left at 11:55 pm, after just 15 minutes inside. We found dust everywhere and a yellow toilet seat with feces on it. My partner tried wiping it to check whether it was a stain, but it all came off on the toilet paper. Disgusting. I have a severe dust allergy, which we'd told the hotel about when booking, but they obviously didn't care. We called the front desk and were told nothing could be done. When I asked for another room, the staff member showed us one that was even worse, with a disgusting toilet. We checked out and thankfully found a room at another hotel. Since then I've tried to reach a manager to complain so this doesn't happen to anyone else. I've sent several emails and got no response. Every day, someone gives me a different excuse for why the manager isn't in. They also say I can't get a refund, even though we were there for only 15 minutes. Absolutely terrible. I'd suggest nobody stay here. There are a million better options, and it's a joke that they call themselves 5 star.
