Amazing Accommodations South Yarra

For a basic hotel, this was nice, with excellent kitchen and bathroom facilities. The staff were friendly when we saw them, but check-in was so quick that we didn’t hear about the gym, spa, and reading area until we were checking out. The stove fan was another issue: it stayed on all the time unless we disconnected the power, which also lit the bathroom. It was a little disappointing.

The location is perfect, tucked behind Chapel Street and within walking distance of everything. Rooms are clean and lovely, it feels secure, and parking outside is free after 9pm. I stayed at Bray Street for two weeks and Ruth & Thias took care of me the whole time. They helped whenever I needed more towels, wanted to move rooms, or asked for the TV I really wanted. Both were professional, compassionate, and always had a warm smile. They were there when I called with questions and still are. They went above and beyond, which is why I keep coming back to Amazing Accomodations whenever I’m in Melbourne. I’ve booked again for January.

It was an average stay. The studio was serviced, had plenty of daylight, a roadside view, basic amenities, good bedding, and prompt service. There was an electric kettle but no coffee machine. The balcony was covered in spider webs, the indoor ceilings needed dusting, the sofa looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in quite a while, and the blinds were stained. I think the light on the exhaust was blown. There weren’t enough toiletries, and if you’re not supplying dishwasher tabs, dishwashing liquid and a sponge should be provided.

The location is good, but this building is in bad condition and doesn’t work well for travellers. There was no soap or clock, and no bedside light, so you have to walk around a dark room. The power points rejected every device I tried plugging in. The apartment is only serviced after you check out, which is okay. With some attention it could be a very good place, but as it is, it seems suited mainly to long-term stays.
