Anchorage Apartments Hampton

We spent a fantastic week at Anchorage Apartments in Hampton. The three-bedroom apartment was clean, spacious and well equipped, with plenty of room for everyone. We especially loved the large balcony off the living room and its sea views. Having a private parking space inside the building was handy too, and our car stayed safe throughout. The setting made it easy to explore. Bars, restaurants and distinctive shops were a five-minute walk away, the beach was about ten minutes on foot, and the city was 20 minutes away. The golden sand and clear water were beautiful. We did sometimes hear the nearby train station, but that was a small trade-off for such a convenient spot. We'd highly recommend it as a base and can't wait to return.

Communication was quick, helpful and excellent. The location is great, with good restaurants, a supermarket and coffee nearby, and the train right out front takes about 25 minutes to Melbourne CBD. The room was spacious and nice, but very dark and not cleaned properly. The skirting boards looked untouched, and the bathroom bin was disgusting. Prices also shift with events. We paid almost four times as much when the F1 races were on, which didn't feel reasonable. We stayed a week and thought the $50 late checkout fee was unreasonable too, especially with check-in at 2pm and checkout at 10am.

The location is amazing, but I would never stay there again. In the six days between booking and arrival, I got eight emails with different instructions or requirements. The room had only been given a very superficial clean. I regretted looking under the bathroom vanity when I dropped my toothbrush. Worst of all, every Anchorage guest was locked out of their apartments for an hour or more on a hot, busy Friday evening. A dozen or more people with luggage and shopping were stuck in a tiny lobby because neither the lift nor the stairway door lock recognised the phone fob you have to download. What a debacle. I only needed somewhere handy to the job we're working on, and this was not a good experience.

Anchorage apartments Hampton was warm and attentive, answered my questions quickly and shared useful local recommendations. The apartment was just as described and even more charming in person. Everything was spotless and thoughtfully set up, and I felt at home as soon as I arrived. It was easy to get to nearby shops, the beach, restaurants and public transport, yet the place stayed peaceful and quiet after a day out. The kitchen was fully equipped, the bed was cozy and the Wi-Fi was fast. I stayed from 17th/10/24 to 22/10/24 and had an unforgettable visit. I highly recommend this Airbnb and can't wait to come back.
