Coburg Motor Inn

We saw the room after checking in and left straight away. We weren't there for an hour, let alone the night. The place was filthy, run down and disgusting. Without a doubt, the worst hotel I've ever seen.

The room smelled strongly of cigarettes and had no heating or cooling, and there were no extra blankets. There were holes in the walls all over. The shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years and was falling apart. I also found no face washers and just one basic pillow, which was far too soft and lumpy. The TV was leaning on a table and looked like it would fall if a child or anyone touched it. Early on Sunday morning they started fixing a fence and dragging big sheets of tin around, making awful noise and making it impossible to sleep. I had to be careful closing the front door so the batteries wouldn't fall out of the lock.

I spent one Saturday night here, and it was a decent stay. The manager was kind enough to let me check in early. My room was in much better shape than the older photos suggest, and it looks like they're doing a bit of renovating. I had a nice view over the park below, and as a light sleeper I only heard the nearby road at night. There is some old furniture cluttering parts of the balconies, which makes the place look drab, but the stay wasn't nearly as bad as the reviews made it sound.

The location made a stressful night much easier: there’s a tram stop right outside, food all around, and a major pub nearby. My car broke down, so I booked a room at short notice late on Saturday the 10th, the night before Mother’s Day. The manager at Coburg motel inn was kind, and I’m really grateful. The bedroom and bathroom were huge, spotless, and looked brand new, with no chips or marks on the walls or cupboards. The aircon and TV worked perfectly, and it was so quiet inside. I honestly couldn’t believe how inexpensive it was. Maybe they could charge more.
