Dorsett Melbourne

The pool and sauna were particular highlights, and the room was gorgeous with fantastic amenities. Jin Bar in the lobby was a lovely place for pre-dinner cocktails, and the happy hour special was great too. My husband and I chose Dorsett Melbourne for our tenth wedding anniversary. We hadn’t meant to book during the Australia Open, so the hotel was lively and busy with tennis patrons, but we still felt really well cared for. Jeffrey checked us in and upgraded our room. When we got there, we found a lovely card signed by lots of staff and complimentary chocolates. We hadn’t expected special treatment, and the thoughtful gesture meant a lot. Thank you, Dorsett Melbourne, for such a warm, welcoming stay. We’ll be back.

The breakfast each morning was a real highlight, with plenty of variety and good quality. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, so it was easy to settle in and relax. The rooms were beautifully appointed, and service throughout the hotel was friendly and professional. Everything exceeded our expectations. We had an amazing stay at Dorsett Hotel and would happily return.

The room was reasonable and well appointed, and there are good food options within walking distance. Breakfast was okay, with the basics available, but on one of the days we couldn’t get juice or one of the food options. We were told it was being topped up, but it never arrived. It was hard to manage when going in and out for work. The reception staff were standoffish at best. I asked if they could work with us on a booking because my colleague had just arrived on an overseas flight and was asleep. They wouldn’t check me in and sort the corporate booking payment an hour or two later, once he was up. When I came back for directions, they told me to use my phone. Generally unhelpful and rude. I stayed before Christmas. Parking cost $200 for two nights, which is crazy, though I guess that’s Melbourne. For what our business paid, there are better places to stay in Melbourne with better service.

I especially liked the quiet, relaxing pool area, and the location felt convenient and safe. My room was clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated. Breakfast had a great selection, with quick, polite service. The staff were attentive and professional and made me feel welcome from arrival through departure. The whole stay was smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommended.
