Essendon Motel

I came for one night and the room I'd booked hadn't been cleaned, so they moved me to another. That room had a broken door lock, an aircon full of dust and dirt that seemed like a fire hazard, barely visible dim lighting, and no milk in the fridge. The milk was left in the kitchen beside the kettle instead. I ended up doing the cleaning myself. Maybe they should hire me, because I'm a cleaner and their cleaners clearly don't know how to clean properly.

We walked into a room that hadn't been cleaned: there was a used bar of soap by the sink, a used towel on the rack and stains on the pillowcase. How can a motel like this operate, or be listed on Booking.com? I can't see how a health and safety inspector could approve it.

We were put in the wrong room, and when we arrived some bloke answered the door. We ended up barricading ourselves with a table, iron, chairs and a lock. The place was rubbish-strewn, smelled of cigarettes and had graffiti on the walls. The service was horrible. The room had serious problems too: the smoke alarm had been smashed off, the window wouldn't shut and its frames were bent out like a pitched tent, and the bathroom door had no handle. The heater and air con didn't work. The main light switch was attached to the bottom of a bedside table covered in horrible red stains. When we arrived, one visitor demanded a room and apparently expected to be assaulted during the night. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're staying in Essendon.

Really rude. The workers kept knocking from 8:30 in the morning to ask if I was leaving, as though they wanted guests out the second their booking ended. A horrible stay. Never book here.
