Guilfoyle Apartments

A fantastic place with all the services. The beds are a shame, but for a short stay it isn't a problem.

The room was filthy. The bathroom mirror was so cloudy I could hardly see into it, there was mould on the shower door, and the toilet had dust and hair on it. I reported it to the mobile number I was given and got an apology, plus a reply that the cleaner works after each checkout and would be told to clean more thoroughly. For over $370 for two nights, I expected a clean room. Arriving was confusing too. I booked through booking.com under Luxe Southbank retreat, but the accommodation was called The Guilfoyle. I had to pick up the keys from an unaffiliated IGA around the corner. Then I waited more than an hour for someone described as the “building manager,” who wasn't connected to the booking phone number, to activate my fob for the pool and the “sauna” that doesn't exist. Before that, I had to watch an induction video on YouTube and answer 15 questions using the name Sanjiv. Parking was another mess. It took 24 minutes of driving around and up and down to find our level and assigned space. The spaces aren't numbered in order, and there were no signs showing the level; the letters jumped around, so it was hard to know where to go. Very disappointing, with little concern from management.

The place was dirty, and the key pickup was sketchy: we had to collect them from a supermarket with no connection to the hotel. The name on booking.com didn't match the actual name either. We got trapped in the stairwell because none of the doors would open. To use the pool, you have to sit through more than half an hour of YouTube videos before they let you in. I wouldn't put a homeless person here for a night.

The view from our 19th-floor room was superb. It's a little farther from the city's main attractions, but getting around by public transport is really easy. We stayed for a little while.
