Everything seems to break down far too often, and the strata’s poor maintenance makes living here frustrating. The car lift was out for six months, leaving cars stuck inside, without effective action from strata. Now both passenger lifts are out at once, which is a major inconvenience for residents. The finishes may look fancy at first, but the quality is very low. The joinery is peeling, poor bathroom ventilation has left hinges and holders rusty, and the basic air conditioners are noisy. Construction quality and maintenance are both poor.

The location is fantastic, and that’s the only good part. Our apartment was far from clean, with food stuck to the walls and chairs and a soiled toilet. The beds were uncomfortable, and the furniture and window coverings were broken. I don’t know who’s writing all those positive reviews, but our stay was very disappointing. Next time we’re in Melb, we’ll stay next door at the Somerset for clean rooms.
