The staff were nice enough, and the reception and cafe area had a pleasant feel. Geographically, the location is excellent, but the hotel’s position creates problems. It feels soulless, boxed in by nearby office buildings. Our window faced a building only about 2-3 metres away, so we couldn’t leave the curtain open without worrying about who could see in. The internal facing rooms seemed to cost more, yet walking to the lift we could see straight into them. That privacy issue, and the lack of facilities like a pool, made the stay feel claustrophobic. The room itself was disappointing. There was a large TV, but the design and look felt too much like a lower tier Holiday Inn Express or an Ibis. The wall operated lights were bizarre, with no easy way to leave a small bedside lamp on. The night light over the bed was far too bright. A kettle and coffee sachets also felt dated, as if stuck in the 1970s. The bathroom looked nicer, but there was no bath or rainshower option. This new hotel could do much better with its overall design.
The hotel is right next door to the big mecca, and the rooms were super clean. The buffet breakfast was nice, and the staff were friendly, especially GSA Wenky, who checked me in. I’ll absolutely recommend it to friends and family. I’d suggest signing up for IHG membership, since it can make late checkout possible if there’s availability that day.
Breakfast was a real highlight for me. There was plenty to choose from, everything tasted great, and the staff there were so friendly and helpful. Getting around Melbourne was easy from this location, too. My room and bathroom were both clean and a good size. I also loved the toiletries, and the pillow menu was a nice touch, with soft and firm options plus more choices. Housekeeping were accommodating. Shakya kindly arranged an early check-in, and the whole arrival went smoothly. I had a great stay and would come back next time I'm in Melbourne. Thanks to everyone.
For a busy central spot, my room and the lobby were quiet, and I couldn't hear the many trams going past. The gym was well equipped, the room was comfortably warm, and I liked the kids Explorer pack. There aren't any pools or spas. You do need to ask reception for things like vanity kits and shower caps, and I wish there'd been bottled water for sale or a complimentary bottle on arrival. There is a refill station. The buffet was pretty good, with bacon, eggs, toast, pastries, fruit, a Poke bowl station and muesli. Staff were friendly and helpful, booked taxis for me, and had my room ready at 11am. It was spacious, clean and modern, with a fairly comfortable bed. The location is excellent, Bourke St Mall is right outside, with shops including the biggest Mecca in the world, JD Sports, H&M, Zara, David Jones and Myers, plus the historic barbershop and tearooms, Flying Tiger and Miniso. I paid about $600 for 3 nights, which was a great price for that location.
Even with the F1 on, the price was competitive, and the central location made it easy to get around. Frank took care of everything from check-in and even explained how to get from the hotel to the race site. It's a new hotel, but the staff seemed well trained, from helping us out of the Uber to showing us where the lobby was. Highly rated.
