ibis budget Melbourne Airport

We arrived in Melbourne very late, and the signs were easy to follow with good lighting all the way. It’s close to Terminal 1, though quite a walk from Terminal 4. The place was very clean and worked well for an overnight before an early flight. It did feel a bit institutional, almost like a hospital room.

The room was laid out well and very clean, and the prices are budget friendly. The staff and service were amazing. I’m so grateful to the kind, understanding team who helped search the room for a very sentimental earring I’d lost.

The room quality was poor, and the hotel was overpriced for what it offered. Just before 1 a.m., as I was about to go to bed, a woman suddenly opened my room door. I don’t know if she was a guest or a staff member, but she didn’t even apologize. It was frightening, and made the key card feel pointless if someone can simply open the door. Later, with the airport crowded and no time to get there, I asked the staff to call me a taxi. They refused and told me to return to the airport and catch one there.

The room was clean and comfortable for one or two people, though I could hear people walking in the corridor and locking or unlocking doors. Getting to the hotel was confusing, with no pedestrian walkway, perhaps because of roadworks. They also didn’t provide toothpaste or bottled water. Still, it worked for an overnight stay.
