The staff at check-in were lovely, friendly, and very helpful. The restaurant was okay, with fun retro decor and a good atmosphere. The area is walkable, and getting to the CBD is easy. Still, I probably wouldn’t come back. Cleanliness and attention to detail matter to me, and it’s a shame this was my first stay with this hotel chain because I don’t think I’ll use it again. The snug room is a decent size for one person, but it wasn’t clean enough. There were dirty walls, a drink mark and another “mystery stain,” a stained section of the headboard, and floors beside the bed that hadn’t been vacuumed properly. The marks near the sink looked like they came from previous toothbrushes and toothpaste. I wiped them, and to be fair, they genuinely seemed impossible to remove. I found poop stains in all three downstairs toilets. The staff’s reaction was so blasé that I didn’t bother raising it, since I was only there for a couple of nights. I used some dettole wipes. The bathroom bin is broken. The handheld shower doesn’t work properly, and I couldn’t get the water to come through it. The bed is uncomfortable, and I can feel the springs. Thankfully, there’s only one more night. Laundry is out of order.

It was easy to get around, with a tram right outside the door and a train station just a two-minute walk away for trips into and out of the CBD. The area is very walkable and packed with good food and drink. We had memorable meals at Oriental Tea House and Hoppers Joint, and breakfast at Two Birds One Stone or Pound cafe. Ovolo had great service, and its bar was just right for a signature cocktail before dinner. The place has kitschy artwork and themed decor, and yes, the bed was comfortable too. Definitely recommend.

I don’t often write reviews, but I was honestly blown away. The room’s fixtures and fitout were much better than I expected for the price, with a new, modern feel and quite high-end quality. There were plenty of staff around to help, and they were all very nice. Very grateful, Jarrod.

The rooms are a little small, but they’ve made the space work really well. Everything felt considered and practical. The staff were incredibly lovely and accommodating, and the lolly bar by the lifts was a nice bonus. It’s a great location, surrounded by some of the best cafes.

For a weekend trip, this worked perfectly. It’s astonishingly quiet, right in the heart of South Yarra, and costs more than reasonably compared with other places. I left my car in a garage 100m away for 5 bucks a night at the weekend rate. The rooms are small, but fairly clean and up to date. The staff are impeccable and helped me out, especially the night guy, who’s a legend. Everything about the place is awesome.
