Lancemore Lindenderry Red Hill

We loved wandering through the grounds, playing billiards and taking it easy by the pool and jacuzzi. The included breakfast was a real highlight, with a delicious cooked menu alongside a continental buffet. It was easily the best hotel breakfast we’ve had, in Australia or overseas. We had a lovely midweek break at Lancemore Lindenderry. The property is a little older but has a charming, welcoming feel, and our room was comfortable and well equipped. Booking and check-in were seamless. Thanks to all the lovely staff.

The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Dinner was fantastic too. We chose the a la carte menu, and while some might find the portions small for the price, I expected that at a two-hatted restaurant. My husband and I shared roast potatoes and salad with our mains and were nicely full. Dessert was fabulous. Congratulations to the chef and the wait staff, who looked after us so well. There were a few small things with room service. The pillows were on the bed the wrong way round, there was only one coffee sachet, and the plunger still had a used one in it. I had to find staff to get another sachet. There was also no toilet roll on the holder, though thankfully there was one in the cupboard. When I mentioned it all at reception, the lovely receptionist apologised repeatedly and gave me another roll. We enjoyed exploring the sitting rooms instead of staying in our room, and the gardens are very pleasant. There’s a good-sized indoor pool and a tennis court. My husband mentioned a billiard table, though I didn’t see it. That would have been fun.

The wine pairing was lovely, and the fresh air and natural surroundings made the meal even nicer. The food at the lindenderry dining room was amazing, especially for the price. I’m surprised it hasn’t received a hat from sydney morning herald yet. I’d love to visit again soon.

The chef’s food was great, but the wine service and billing were confusing. We clearly ordered half a bottle of red wine for three people. While one of us was in the restroom, the waiter poured it into two glasses. We explained that it was meant to be shared among all three, so he poured the remaining wine into the third glass, then topped it up from another bottle because there wasn’t enough. In the end we were charged for an extra single glass, even though some of that glass came from the half bottle we’d already ordered. When we checked into the hotel room, the wine glasses still had marks from previous use and hadn’t been replaced.
