The garden area was pleasant and relaxing, and the café was nice. The breakfast buffet was good too. Dinner took over an hour to arrive, including the entrée. The rooms needed attention: the floors needed vacuuming and the bathroom floors needed a proper scrub. There were bugs and flies in the dining area, and you could clearly see waterline marks on the sides of the swimming pool, which needs cleaning.

The spa treatment was the best part for us. Hubby had a 60-minute full-body massage, and I split my hour between a 30-minute massage and a 30-minute facial. Maira greeted us with a beautiful smile, made us feel welcome and showed us where to go. Downstairs, Perri and Jasmine took care of our massages and facials. It was the best indulgence I’ve had so far, and I’ve had quite a few. Huge thanks to them for an incredible experience. We’ll definitely do it again. I walked in feeling a million bucks and left feeling a million bucks. I booked Hubby and me a sneaky staycation at Werribee Mansion and chose the Indulgence Package. The rooms were beautiful, the beds cosy, everything was clean and the views were great. Our four-course dinner at Joseph restaurant was scrumptious, and the staff were so welcoming. The Shadowfaux experience was another highlight, a 10/10. We didn’t leave empty-handed, lol, we’ve got wine for months and I’m not complaining. I’d highly recommend Werribee Mansion and Lancmore Spa to anyone looking to relax and be pampered.

We had dinner at Joseph’s Dining and were very impressed. The steaks were some of the best we’d had, cooked just right, and the King Prawn Roll was a delicious standout. It reminded me of lobster rolls I used to enjoy in the North East of the US. I wish I’d ordered two. The cold-press juice station at breakfast was another nice touch, with fresh ingredients already cut up, though it was a little slow to use. Our family accommodation was two interconnecting rooms with a small private vestibule, at the quiet end of the hotel above the spa. There was plenty of space, the beds were very comfortable, and we all slept well. The kids especially loved the roughly 20-metre heated indoor pool and large spa. The wellness area can feel quite quiet and tranquil, so families and couples looking to relax are sharing the same space. The grounds are lovely to explore. We found a rose garden, and the neighbouring historic mansion offered an interesting look at the area’s past. Shadowfax Winery is a short walk away, and its restaurant serves one of the best pizzas I’ve had. We skipped the nearby zoo this time, though reception staff spoke highly of it. Getting there takes about 40 minutes west of Melbourne through expansive parklands. The turnoff is easy to miss, as we accidentally carried on toward the zoo. The access road is unpaved, so loose gravel from passing vehicles is something to consider if you have a new car. Arriving at the grand, castle-like entrance was impressive, and the old-world feel carries inside. There’s a large billiard table beside reception for some family fun. Staff made a great impression from the start. Before we arrived, the hotel texted to confirm the bed setup, then messaged again on the day to say our room was ready early. Reception gave us a warm, friendly welcome, and everyone was personable and engaging. The one real letdown was the cramped, average breakfast buffet. It was hard to move around once larger families arrived, and the hot food selection was limited and only average. We checked out on a Friday, glad we’d enjoyed a quieter stretch, as the hotel was noticeably busier by then with families and wedding guests. The calm atmosphere had shifted a little, but we still had a wonderful, memorable family stay and would happily recommend this refined, historic escape. It’s not inexpensive, though the elegance and comfort of the family suite made it feel worth the price.

I wouldn’t recommend this High Tea. Although we got good service when we arrived, it faded later and we had to ask staff for attention. Most of the group had standard food, but there were also a vegan and a vegetarian. Their options were basic, especially the disappointing vegan menu. The vegan dessert was just slices of melon, with less food overall, yet it still cost $99. Prosecco was free flowing, but the order of service was odd: hot fried food came after dessert and arrived barely warm. The food itself was low quality.

The room was gorgeous, with a super king bed, a balcony and courtyard views. We stayed on 26/1 in a king suite, and pretty much everything else was splendid. The staff were amazing, especially reception and the only two restaurant servers working a very busy night. They handled it professionally, though it was clear they were understaffed. My partner’s meal was great, but my steak came out cold and exceptionally tough. I was paying a supplement for it, so that was disappointing. I didn’t send it back because they were so busy, but I did leave feedback. We’d still definitely return for another stay.
