Mantra 100 Exhibition Melbourne

The location was the one good thing. This was the worst Mantra IV stayed at, and it definitely didn’t feel like four stars. The rooms are old, and without A/C in the bedrooms they get really hot and stuffy. There’s a smell in the room, and street noise comes through the single glazed windows. The TV wasn’t smart, so we were stuck with free to air, and I’d expect at least a casting device for streaming. The washing machine didn’t work, so we had to wash clothes in the bath.

Sleep was the biggest problem. There were no curtains on one living area window, leaving us without privacy, and light came straight onto the bed through a bedroom highlight window all night. It’s the city, so there’s ambient light, but it made for very disrupted sleep. The unit itself was small but fairly comfortable, with only two or three of each crockery and cutlery item and no serving dishes. Staff were friendly and efficient when we went to the counter, though they didn’t interact otherwise. A simple hello when guests come in would go a long way.

We had a warm, comfortable room with a great city view, thanks to an unexpected upgrade to an upper level. It was nicely laid out, with a large bed and plenty of pillows to choose from. The shower and bathroom were excellent. Check in was quick, and we were welcomed with a smile and given an explanation of the hotel facilities. We enjoyed our stay.

For an overnight stop before an early departure, it did the job. The bed was clean and comfortable, the assistance offsite was excellent, and we were given complimentary water and chocolates, a nice bonus. But the room was much smaller than advertised, and the bathroom needs an upgrade. I also had to clean the kitchen before leaving, which took unnecessary time and almost defeats the point of renting a motel room. Still, the stay was great.
