Melbourne South Yarra Central Apartment Hotel

Our stay was a real disappointment, especially for the basic comfort and service we expected. The plumbing smelled unpleasant, the toilet cistern kept making noise, and the air conditioning didn't work in the middle of summer. We reached the property at 2:00 a.m. after a long journey. The lift was out, so we carried more than five suitcases up to the third floor. The room wasn't clean, and then we were told to move to the seventh floor, meaning more trips up the stairs. We were eventually given room 701, which was very nice, and we appreciated that gesture. But it had no towels, so on the first day we had to dry ourselves with the only one there, a foot towel. Housekeeping was included and paid for, but nobody came from Tuesday, when we arrived, through Monday. The room was never cleaned, and neither towels nor bed linen were changed.

The location was the one real plus, and the room was spacious. I was in Melbourne for four nights for a medical procedure, but the stay was underwhelming. The hotel felt dated and overdue for renovation, with old furniture and a small, slow TV. The room looked clean but smelled unpleasant, and even the fresh white towels had a noticeable odour. I asked twice for extra pillows, explaining I needed them while recovering, but none arrived. I also reported the bathroom exhaust fan, which wasn't working, to reception, but nobody came to inspect or fix it. For the price, I expected more comfort and attention.

The apartments are in a great location, but the place badly needs renovating. It has more of a backpackers hostel feel than decent accommodation. Housekeeping was okay, but the bedding felt like what you'd get at a one-star hotel, and the pillows weren't adequate. The dryer in the room was broken. I won't stay here again.

We enjoyed staying at your apartments, and the location worked well for us. The kitchenette tap was very hard to turn on and off, though. I think it needs a new handle. Kindest regards, Jacqui Andreoli
