Nightcap at Ashley Hotel

My room was tidy and clean, and the staff downstairs were friendly. But when I turned on the bathroom tap, the water came out light brown, then shifted to more of a beige colour after about 20 seconds. There was no hot water when I tried to shower, so it was tepid at best and spoiled what had been a pleasant stay. My local cousin had highly recommended the Ashley. After this, I'll look elsewhere and wouldn't recommend it if the chance comes up.

The rooms have been renovated and were clean, and check-in was really easy. There's a pub downstairs, handy for grabbing a meal or passing some time. The staff are friendly and always happy to chat.

Fine for a quick overnight stay. The room was clean and the bed was nice, so it was okay overall. The showers were a bit difficult to operate, and there weren't any sanitary bins in the women's toilets.

After our flight was cancelled again the next day, the venue manager helped book us another stay and wished us a good rest. We'd had lunch downstairs, too, and the food was amazing. The rib eye was juicy and cooked perfectly. Our first flight cancellation left us looking for somewhere in the freezing cold midnight, with the airport hotels all booked. The male staff member working overnight, whose name I unfortunately forgot, was a real lifesaver. We were lucky to reach him and get a room. He welcomed us warmly and sorted out our problems. The room and bathroom were super clean and stylish, and we slept very well despite the pub still being open downstairs. Such a lovely, caring business. We felt blessed to find it during all the flight cancellations, and will definitely visit this hotel again when we're next in Melbourne. Thank you all for the great hospitality 🥰
