Nightcap at Excelsior Hotel

Michelle was the best part of the stay. She was warm and easy to talk to, and worked hard to move us into a ground-floor apartment for at least two of our three nights. My husband has a mobility disability, so being told at check-in that our room was upstairs was a real problem. The listing on Bookings.com had said the entire apartment was on the ground level. The room itself was comfortable, looked like the advertised pictures, and was otherwise really nice. There was a soiled towel, though, and no face washers. The room rating took a hit because of the upstairs location, while Michelle deserves five stars for her service.

Everything was great until the Wi-Fi quit working shortly after we connected. It stayed down for the rest of the night. The same thing happened at all three Nightcap hotels on our trip.

Comfortable beds and working facilities, with tidy rooms that felt just right for an economy hotel. The pub next door has a good bistro and lots of bars, and there’s a Dan Murphy in the car park. If you need somewhere in this area, it’s well worth staying.

We booked this at the last minute for an overnight work trip, and the value was better than I expected once we saw the rooms. We stayed in #4 and #3, which had been upgraded. I’m assuming all the rooms have had the same work done. The room had new carpet tiles, fresh paint and new joinery, plus a large smart TV and a queen bed that was super comfortable. The modern bathroom was fully tiled and had a rain head shower, shampoo, conditioner, soap, body wash and hand lotion. Towels and the bed linen and doona were decent too. There was complimentary bottled water, with plenty of tea and coffee. Check-in was quick. We each got two $10 drink coupons for the hotel and 10% off meals, and breakfast packs were available to make an early start easier the next day. Great value for money. I’d happily stay again and recommend it to others.
