The apartment was decent and seemed new, and the location was pretty good, near two tram stops. There was no view from our room. We were charged $5 each to leave our bags with “reception” until 4pm, then $3 per hour after that. There isn’t a real reception desk, just a tiny room that looks like it was meant to be a linen closet. The man there had a very thick Chinese accent, so it was hard to understand him and put us off asking for directions. He was prompt, though, when we asked for extra towels and toilet paper. The towels also had a strange smell.

The location was the only good thing about this disappointing stay. Our room was not as clean or as detailed as advertised: there were stains on the bedroom pillows and bed frame, missing light fixtures, cupboards that wouldn’t close, and cups and cutlery in mismatched styles and sizes. The air-conditioning didn’t work. I also had to call two weeks after checking out to follow up on the deposit before it was returned. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The room was fine and check-in was easy, but checking out was a different story. There was nobody at reception when we wanted to leave our bags for the day, and they’re not good at answering the phone, including the “emergency” number listed there. They do keep luggage until 4pm on checkout day, which was useful, but when we came back for ours we waited 15 minutes for someone to show up.

I booked despite the bad reviews because it’s close to where I had an exam, and the location is ideal for CBD appointments. But the whole apartment complex smelled bad, and my room had lots of carpet stains. There were hairs on the towels and dryer before we’d even used them. Cleanliness was a 0/10 for me. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Staff were responsive and let us check in early, which was great, but the room wasn’t serviced once during our four-night stay. We shouldn’t have had to beg for toilet rolls. We were put on floor 1, with no view beyond tram tops and roadworker trucks, and it was noisy. In a 32-floor building, ask for a higher room, maybe your stay will be better than ours. And what is that smell in the lobby?
