Roomerang at Melbourne Star 40

We found the apartment spacious enough for a short stay, and the owner was quick to respond and very accommodating. Melbourne Central is nearby, which made getting around handy.

It was so disappointing. The building smelled of food, and the place itself was dark, dingy and filthy. There were no TVs or hairdryer, so we refused to stay and found somewhere else. We didn't even care whether we'd get a refund. I don't understand how it's listed on Booking.com, as I thought their standards were higher. It may have been a new listing with few reviews.

The room was dated and not especially clean, but it was livable and had what we needed for a couple of days. We spent a week there on holiday in Melbourne, and the location was the main draw: cafes and restaurants were plentiful nearby. Of the three elevators, two worked during our stay, and waits at morning and afternoon rush could reach about 10 minutes. Some residents gave us odd looks in the lift. I guessed many were students or people working nearby. I didn't feel threatened, but stayed alert. I'd probably return because of the location.

It worked well for our family trip, with a food shop and mini market close by.
