Nomads St Kilda Beach

I liked the quiet, tidy room, relaxed atmosphere, kitchen, dining areas and workspace here. Check-in and check-out were easy. The bathrooms and toilets weren’t looked after well, though, and I didn’t feel drawn to use them. Hopefully they renovate them with a modern style, and I’ll come back.

The front desk team were friendly, and the lobby and common spaces felt welcoming. I only stayed one night at Roamer St Kilda. The rooms were good, with privacy curtains, and the beds were clean and really comfortable. I personally liked the constant food smell from the restaurant. The bathroom was the main problem. It was very dirty, with shower mold that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months, and the toilet was unclean too. I was concerned about hygiene and didn’t shower.

We’ve stayed here several times over the past two months, after trying other hostels nearby, and this is easily our favourite. The relaxed atmosphere, good facilities, on-site jaffle cafe, bar and cozy common room all make it a great place. The kitchen is on the small side, but that helps you meet people, and most guests are friendly. Staff are lovely and accommodating. Thanks to Tarik for moving us to keep us in a room with a private bathroom, so I didn’t have to haul our suitcases down the stairs. Dorms and private rooms are reasonably priced, clean and in good shape. The location is convenient too, with two bars, two tram stops, a woolies, good restaurants and albert park all within walking distance. We really recommend it. - Liam and Izzy

The bed was comfortable, and the curtains gave good privacy. Our four-bed room didn’t feel cramped, and the staff were friendly. For the price, it’s a good stay, but there are concerns about safety and hot water. I had to ask the front desk for a hairdryer. The area felt a little unsafe: I heard people arguing early in the morning and saw some homeless people at night. Soundproofing was poor, so I could hear everything, including parties downstairs until around 11pm. The shower was mostly cold and unstable on both nights, which was hard to deal with in the chilly night weather.
