Pullman Melbourne on the Park

We were at the hotel restaurant for dinner twice, and Julia made both visits feel so welcoming. She answered our menu questions with such warmth, like we’d known her for ages. We made a point of thanking her on our last night. The rest of the hotel team was great too. Mardi helped us at check-in, and when our room wasn’t quite ready, the concierge looked after our bags while we walked around Fritroy Park / CBD. By about 2pm, the room was ready. We came to Australia for the first time for AO 2026 and our 10-year anniversary. The room felt warm, and we called the front desk several times. They tried to help, though eventually we wondered if the issue was us rather than the AC. The hotel was about a 10-minute walk from the AO, where we spent three days. A really great stay, and I know where I’d stay next time I’m in Melbourne.

Breakfast had all the basics, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Apart from a few tiny black flies in the room that I killed, things were good. The parkland view was lovely, and the room itself was nice. The train noise was the hard part. The first one goes past around 4:30am, and even with earplugs I could still hear it. If you’re sound-sensitive like me, I’d avoid a room facing the train station/parkland.

The tram stops right outside, there’s a great park next door, and some of the major sports arenas are across the street. The location really works. We loved the hotel. The lobby and shared spaces have nice decor, the rooms feel current, and the fitness centre and sauna were solid. Staff were friendly and helpful too. Would recommend.

The pool is great, especially on a hot day, though I enjoy it any day. The sauna and steam room looked good, but I didn’t get to try them. I was disappointed to hear the spa won’t be repaired. I’ve been waiting a few years for that. My four nights at Pullman on The Park Melbourne last week were enjoyable, as they usually are. I love staying here, and it remains one of my favourite Melbourne hotels. As an Accor member, I got a welcome gift, a restaurant discount, discounts on meals and drinks in the restaurant and bar, and late checkout. I was upgraded from a premier superior room to a Delux Executive Suite, a fantastic corner room looking over melbourne city and the MCG area. Breakfast was good either in the club lounge or the ground-floor restaurant. I was happy with it both ways. I ate in the restaurant too and liked most of the meals. One dish disappointed me, so I told the staff. They apologised and made sure the later meals were excellent. Thanks again to Julia for her exceptional service in the restaurant. Those who know her may have heard she’s retiring soon, and we’ll miss her. The executive lounge was very good as usual, with an improved canape selection and a great range of hot and cold food. The house wine list is a bit boring, but they ran out, so I got to have a very nice shiraz instead. Spirits and soft drinks were available too. The service was excellent overall, except I was charged twice for the minibar. It happens now and then.
