Top of Rye

Rye is a beautiful part of Melbourne, and the house layout has real potential for a great stay. But hygiene was the main issue: it didn’t seem to have been professionally cleaned. There was human hair in the sheets and drawers, and neither the floor nor the barbeque had been cleaned. We didn’t want to lose holiday time, so we cleaned ourselves and used most of our own sheets. We planned to discuss this properly with the owners after our stay, since it was a public holiday. Instead, the owners or real estate agent took a sizeable part of our bond, even though we left the house much cleaner than we found it. Their supposed proof included a barbeque that was cleaner than it had been on arrival, bathroom towels left on the floor, a tissue box, and what looked like a crumb. In the view of the four families who stayed there, that checkout surcharge felt more like theft. Don’t be taken in by the luxury photos if you still decide to book. It also took them a few months to respond. Why does it matter when we stayed? Was that really the best response they could come up with? No apology, just a direct question. They’ve shown their true colours again.

Those sunsets from the view were almost hard to believe, like something computer generated. Just idyllic. The house was clean, with a peaceful garden and more for my teens to do than I could have imagined. There was room and comfort for our whole family, with all our different ages, abilities and interests. After stays around Mt Martha, Balnarring and Red Hill, I’m sure we’ll come back for more family and big group holidays. topofrye gave us an incredible, all-around experience.

The views across the peninsula were spectacular, and the place worked perfectly for a weekend away with two families. There was loads of room, and the kids stayed busy with the pool, spa, basketball court and mini golf. We couldn’t love it more, highly recommend.

A family getaway here on the Mornington Peninsula was just over an hour from home, and we’re already looking forward to coming back. The kids had a great time in the big backyard, on the basketball court and at mini golf. The pool and spa were breathtaking, as were the ocean views from the top balcony while I cooked on the bbq. Wow, this place really blew us away.
