Winston Apartments

Great views and an excellent location, with a tram right outside. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. I enjoyed having access to the spa, pool and sauna. Highly recommend.

I booked and paid in full seven days ahead, but when I arrived at 6:10 pm, they had lost my booking. There were no signs or reception desk, and I had no idea where to go. By chance I asked the guy at the Convenience Store downstairs, who happened to have the keys. He asked my name, said there was no booking and that he couldn’t see anything or do anything, even when I showed him my booking. He hadn’t been left a key. I called the apartment number three times and got message bank. Nobody called back. I’ll never book this place again.

I’ve had two reservations with Winston Apartments Melbourne CBD cancelled over the past four months, both just one or two days before arrival and for similar reasons. The short notice caused a lot of inconvenience. After the second cancellation, they offered up to $500 to cover the difference for booking another hotel, but that refund still hasn’t been honoured. I’ve called several times and sent messages without getting a resolution or follow-up. The bookings are unreliable, and communication is poor when there’s a problem. Very disappointing. I wouldn’t book again and would warn anyone whose stay is time-sensitive.

We’ve stayed here for years when visiting Melbourne, mainly for the location and amenities, but it has deteriorated so much that we don’t want to return. The rooms used to be great, then got dirty, and now they’re filthy, with no maintenance being done. The office used to be on the ground floor, but now it seems to be anywhere, depending on the host. Even the lift felt grimy, like something from a zombie apocalypse movie. The pool used to be a highlight, but now it stinks; the sauna is dank and smelly, the gym is similar, and its equipment looks like it was gathered from a rubbish shed. We’re extremely disappointed.
